April 2009 Prayer Letter
April 2009
Dear Family and Friends:
“I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth,” Gen. 9:13. On a recent trip down Interstate 81, I saw the most beautiful complete rainbow arc over the city of Scranton, Pennsylvania. This reminded me of God’s promise never to destroy the earth again with a flood. Someday, however, this earth will succumb to fire (II Pet. 3:10-12), and it is our duty as God’s children to spread the gospel to lost souls around us. As I travel, I have opportunities to give tracts to many different people. I recently met two Filipina ladies who worked at a grocery store. I enjoyed speaking Tagalog with them and was able to give each of them gospel tracts.
I praise the Lord for a month full of church meetings. It was a blessing to meet several new Christian friends. I have also had opportunities to speak in a Ladies’ Sunday School class, a Ladies’ Bible Study, and at a Christian school chapel.
Bob Jones Memorial Bible College had its 18th commencement exercises on Friday, April 3, 2009. Several of my own students graduated and will move into ministries of their own. It is hard to believe that I left the Philippines almost a year ago! I am very eager to return and continue my ministry there. I praise the Lord for increasing my support to 41% this month.
One of my co-workers, Beth Goodwill, has been faithfully helping with homeschooling the missionary children for the past two years. She is currently returning to the States to seek the Lord’s will for her future. Please pray that the Lord would provide a young man or woman who could fill the gap she leaves.
Please pray for the following requests:
1. Safety as I drive long distances alone.
2. Wisdom as I contact new churches for meetings.
3. Financial support. My support level is currently at 41%.
4. Opportunities to witness
5. Salvation: Leah, Sarah, Marilou, Christina, Mrs. Loyola, Catherina Bona, Marilyn
6. Spiritual growth/Church attendance: Angelita Hipolito, Marilyn Dayao
7. Ruth Potter: financial support for a second year teaching at BJMBC.
