April 2010 Prayer Update

April 2010
Dear Praying Friends:

Thank you very much for your consistent prayers for me as I continue my deputation ministry. God provided safety for 42,000 miles I have traveled from Maine to Iowa and Georgia; He has also provided 76% of my needed support for the mission field. Although I do enjoy traveling across the States, my heart’s desire is to return to my adopted country and continue my teaching ministry at Bob Jones Memorial Bible College in Manila, Philippines. The Lord has been burdening me lately to pray fervently and specifically for His provision of the remaining 24% of my support.

I just finished reading a biography of James Fraser, pioneer missionary to the Lisu people of China. While trying to share the gospel with the Lisu, Fraser learned an important lesson. It was as if God was saying to him, “You are crying to Me to do a big work among the Lisu. I am wanting to do a big work in you yourself” (Mountain Rain, pg. 80). The Lord has taught me many important lessons throughout my deputation that I know will help me minister more effectively to others.

Fraser also wrote the following in a letter to his prayer supporters: “True faith glories in the present tense, and does not trouble itself about the future. God’s promises are in the present tense, and are quite secure enough to set our hearts at rest. Their full outworking is often in the future, but God’s word is as good as His bond and we need have no anxiety. Sometimes He gives at once what we ask, but more often He just gives His promise (Mark 11:24). Perhaps He is more glorified in this latter case, for it means that our faith is tried and strengthened. I do earnestly covet a volume of prayer for my Lisu work—but oh! for a volume of faith too. Will you give this?” (Mountain Rain, pgs. 86-87). Just as God’s people prayed for a work in the Lisu, will you pray for God to work through the teachers and students at BJMBC, that God will use us to increase His harvest both in the Philippines and also throughout all of Asia?

Please pray for the following requests:

1. Safety and good health as I drive long distances
2. Wisdom as I continue working on my itinerary for 2010.
3. Financial support. My support level is currently at 76%!
4. Opportunities to witness; boldness to share the Gospel
5. Salvation: Stephen
6. Safe arrival of my balikbayan boxes. They were delayed yet again but are presently in Manila and are about to be delivered to BJMBC.
7. Ruth Potter: support for a third year teaching at BJMBC
8. Comprehension as I continue studying the Tagalog language.

“My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation: He is my defence; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge is in God. Trust in Him as all times; ye people, pour out your heart before Him: God is a refuge for us. Selah,” (Psalm 62:5-8).

Trusting God Almighty,
Jolea Jensen
