March 2008 Prayer Letter

March 2008 Prayer Letter

Dear Family and Friends,

“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed,” Isaiah 53:5. With Easter approaching, our focus turns to the redemptive work Christ did for us on the cross. May we always be ready to share the Gospel story with others.

The school year here will finish with college graduation on Friday, April 4. I will fly back to the States on Tuesday, April 8; please pray for a safe trip and for opportunities to witness as I travel. The following week, on April 16-18, I will have my interview with the Gospel Fellowship Association Candidate Committee. The men who conduct the interview will determine if I am accepted as a career missionary or not. Please pray for discernment for them as they seek the Lord’s will regarding my future ministry.

The Lord gave me an exciting opportunity to witness to my Korean neighbor, Catherina Bona. Ate Jeanne and I had just been out on visitation; we returned to the church, sad that the one we were trying to visit was not at home. The Lord, however, had an open door waiting for me when I returned to my apartment building. My neighbor’s apartment door was open, and she was sitting in her living room sharing a snack with her husband. She saw me and invited me to share some of the snack with her, too. We began talking again. When she found out I was leaving the country soon, she mentioned that she still had not been able to visit my church. I told her she was welcome to come anytime, and she asked what we do at church. I told her that we study the Bible and worship God. She brightened up and said that if she knew we had Bible studies that she would have come sooner. I had my notes from Ate Jeanne’s Sunday School class, so I pulled out my notebook and showed her. She was curious about what the Bible said, so she invited me inside saying, “Come in and read the Bible to me.” I sat in a chair in her living room and shared the opening verses of Isaiah 53 (from the Sunday School lesson), leading into the plan of salvation from the book of Romans. She promised to attend church with me and said she wanted to buy a Bible of her own. Please pray that she will come to church and will also understand the way of salvation.

Our Bob Jones Memorial Bible College choir will sing several concerts beginning Feb. 29. On March 2 and March 9 we will travel to three different churches. March 7 will be our concert at the University of the Philippines (UP). Please pray that God will draw many unsaved UP students to attend our concert. The concert includes selections that carry a powerful salvation message. The audience will come face to face with their sin and their need of a Savior. Please pray that each one of our concerts will be a blessing and that many will trust in Christ to save them from their sins.

Prayers and Praises:
1. Tess Brosoto: The Lord allowed her to have the hip replacement surgery she has been needing desperately. Please pray for her quick recovery and for God’s provision for much needed therapy.
2. Opportunities to witness, spiritual growth, wisdom in teaching, good health
3. Salvation: Leah, Sarah, Marilou, Christina, Mrs. Loyola, Catherina Bona
4. Spiritual growth/Church attendance: Angelita Hipolito, Marilyn Dayao
5. Wisdom as I continue writing hymn arrangements for piano students. The staff at New Song Ministries (the Bachorik’s publishing ministry) are already working on the first publication of these books.
6. Piano recital on March 8. Music juries for piano students on March 14.

Thank you so much for your faithful prayers and support. May God bless you as you serve Him.
