May 2008
Dear Friends and Family,
“The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad,” Psalm 126:3. The Lord has given me many blessings this past month, including travel mercies and encouraging deputation meetings. I was very excited to receive word from Dr. Batory on April 18 that Gospel Fellowship Association has approved me as a career missionary. It is thrilling to think that I will soon be able to return to my teaching at Bob Jones Memorial Bible College in Manila, Philippines.
A group of BJU friends joined me for a weekend of ministry (April 19-20) at Hurst Baptist Church in Sylvania, GA. The Lord graciously provided two young Filipino men to join our group and fill in the much-needed roles of preacher and song-leader. One graduated this May and will soon return to help in his home church in the Philippines. It was a blessing, as always, to visit with the church family and enjoy another meal of delicious Southern cooking.
The Lord kept me safe as I drove alone from cotton country in GA to the coast of SC. At one point, the only other company I had on the way was a “friendly” little snake that was coiled up, sunning itself on my road. I was glad to be inside my car at that point in time! My time at Victory Baptist Church and Beaufort Christian School in Beaufort, SC, was very enjoyable. The Lord gave me several opportunities to play piano for the church services and to share about the Philippines with classes in the school. Several young children told me they wanted to be a missionary when they grow up.
I enjoyed sharing again at my home church in Greenville–Fellowship Baptist Church in Taylors, SC. It was a blessing to be able to show how the LORD has worked through prayers this past year. A friend offered to make several copies of my ministry DVD for me; this was a great blessing, as it will enable me to mail them out to new church contacts.
Amidst the exhilerations and discouragements, the blessings and disappointments of deputation, the Lord encourages me with a verse I read on Fellowship Baptist Church’s road sign: “Faithful is He that calleth you, who also will do it,” I Thess. 5:24. Please pray with me that the Lord will guide as I contact churches and set up my deputation schedule.
Please pray for the following requests:
1. Safety as I drive long distances alone.
2. Wisdom as I contact new churches for meetings. Please pray that the Lord will lead me to the ministries that He wants me to go to.
3. Financial support
4. Opportunities to witness
5. Salvation: Leah, Sarah, Marilou, Christina, Mrs. Loyola, Catherina Bona
6. Spiritual growth/Church attendance: Angelita Hipolito, Marilyn Dayao
7. That the Lord will guide a young lady I spoke with while in Greenville. She is interested in teaching piano at BJMBC while I am traveling on deputation.
My deputation schedule is as follows:
May 11—Calvary Baptist Church, Albany, NY
May 14—Grace Bible Church, Cohoes, NY
May 18—Harvest Fields Baptist Church, Queensbury, NY
May 28—Bethel Baptist Church, Hampton, VA
June 1—Peace Baptist Church, Wilmington, NC
June 2-7—GFA Conference at The WILDS in NC
May God bless you as you serve Him.
